I grew up in a rural agricultural community where neighbors looked out for one another. That upbringing instilled in me the value of persistence and compassion. With both of my parents working in the sciences, I was surrounded by curiosity and questions from an early age. I’ve also always loved stories — hearing them, telling them and using them to explore the complexity of personhood. Medicine has been a natural blend of these passions: connection, science and the privilege of being invited into someone’s story, especially in moments that matter most.I specialize in palliative medicine and hospice care, and I’m committed to helping patients live as well as possible in the face of serious illness. These fields are often misunderstood, but they are not about giving up — they’re about identifying what matters most and protecting it. My goal is to meet patients where they are, listen deeply, advocate for their needs and help remove barriers to care.I was drawn to palliative medicine during residency at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when fear and isolation were widespread. That experience reinforced my commitment to restoring personhood and honoring patient and family stories.Outside of medicine, I enjoy backpacking, hiking, skiing, needlepoint, eating locally sourced foods and annoying my cat.
